Andrew Inwood

Founder & Principal

Andrew brings over 30 years of experience in the Australian financial services industry. He started his career leading the marketing team at Rothschild Australia Asset Management, before spending over a decade at AMP Investments, including a secondment to Virgin Direct in the UK to help establish the group's finance and investment arm. Upon returning to Australia, he served as Marketing Director at Wizard Home Loans and later as General Manager of Applications and Hosted Services at Telstra, before founding CoreData.

An expert in client experience, Andrew has authored over 50 research pieces and has spoken in major cities worldwide, including London, New York, and Tokyo. He has also served on charity and sporting club boards, and been a seed investor and director of various start-ups, particularly in the online sector. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney ASIA.

Warwick Schneller

Senior Researcher & Vice President
Dimensional Fund Advisors

Warwick Schneller is a Senior Researcher and Vice President at Dimensional. Warwick conducts empirical research on a broad range of investment topics to help support clients.

Warwick holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of New South Wales, Australia. In addition, he holds a Master’s in Finance from Bond University and a Bachelor’s in Agricultural Economics (Hons.) from the University of Sydney. Warwick is also a
CFA® charterholder.

His finance career includes roles as an FX Dealer at Macquarie Bank (2006-2008) and a Senior Fellow at Bond University’s Macquarie Group Trading Room (2009-2013). After earning his Ph.D. in 2017, Warwick joined Dimensional Fund Advisors, progressing to his current role as Senior Researcher and Vice President.

Professor Ben Marshall

Independent Academic Consultant

Professor Ben Marshall works with the Consilium Investment Committee as an Independent Academic Consultant, with a particular focus on governance, analytical support and policy review. He serves on the editorial board of a number of journals and has consulted to public and private companies in a range of different areas. He holds the MSA Charitable Trust Chair in Finance at Massey University.

Professor Marshall has undertaken research in areas such as the impact of climate on financial markets, factors that influence stock returns, quantitative approaches to portfolio management, transaction cost and illiquidity measurement, and exchange traded funds.

His research has been published in leading international journals and he is a regular speaker at international finance conferences. Professor Marshall is currently ranked in the top 1% of authors based on downloads of his working papers.

Andrew Bascand

Managing Director & Portfolio Manager
Harbour Asset Management

Andrew is a founder and Managing Director at Harbour. He holds responsibility for the Australasian Equity growth portfolios, alongside the overarching management of Harbour as a business. Prior to joining Harbour Asset Management, Andrew spent 10 years with AllianceBernstein New Zealand as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager responsible for portfolio construction of all Australasian mandates. In that role, Andrew and his team were consistently recognised by the industry for excellence in funds management.

Andrew has more than 37 years investment management experience including roles with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Bank of England, AMP and with Merrill Lynch Global Asset Management (UK) as Managing Director of Global Equity Products. With Merrill Lynch, Andrew managed global equity accounts for pension funds in Japan, Sweden, Spain, Chile, England, the US, Germany and South Africa.

James Howard

James has a strong background in wealth management, commercial advice, and tax planning. He brings specialist knowledge and expertise to US Citizens and those looking to move to New Zealand under the Investor Visa Program.

James enjoys helping high-net-worth individuals and families to build better futures for themselves and those closest to them. Financial advice allows people to identify and focus on the things that are important to them and James is passionate about providing clarity, confidence and a clear plan going forward. James is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce.

Mark Hebner

Founder & CEO

Mark is the author of the highly regarded book ‘Index Funds: The 12-Step Recovery Program for Active Investors’, nominated as one of the three all-time greatest investment books. He is a respected speaker, frequent news contributor and authority on investing. Mark is especially knowledgeable about index funds, portfolio construction and the research indexes designed by Nobel Laureate Eugene Fama and Kenneth French.

Mark is a Wealth Advisor and has an MBA from the University of California, Irvine and a Bachelor’s in Nuclear Pharmacy from the University of New Mexico. He was a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and is currently a member of the World Presidents’ Organization.

Andrew Zenonos

Portfolio Manager
Russell Investments

Andrew is responsible for managing single factor and multi-factor portfolios, ESG strategies, ETFs, and Enhanced Portfolio Implementation for equity funds. He is a member of the Global Equity Strategy Group and is a voting member of the Global Active Ownership committee.

Prior to joining the Customised Portfolio Solutions team, Andrew was a Portfolio Manager on the Multi-Asset team with responsibility for managing active equity funds across the risk spectrum. He joined Russell Investments in 2012. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Queensland. He is a CFA® Charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Sydney.

Jo Malcolm

Communications & Media Expert
Jo Malcolm Communications

Jo has 15 years of experience as a journalist in newspapers and in television news, both in New Zealand and overseas. She has worked with CEO’s, government agencies and Civil Defence organisations, and managed media operations for significant events, including the Christchurch Mosque gunman sentencing in 2020. Jo also handled strategic communications and media for the All Blacks for 13 years. She began her journalism career at the Bay of Plenty Times in 1988, after completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Canterbury followed by the Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism, and later joined TVNZ as a reporter and foreign correspondent. Since 2007, Jo has been teaching Broadcast Journalism at the University of Canterbury, where the program earned an Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019. She currently runs her own media and communications business.

Liam Malone

GUEST SPEAKER

Liam is widely known as the world number one blade runner – hitting the headlines when after less than three short years in the sport he broke the previous Paralympic records held by Oscar Pistorius. His story of hitting rock bottom while at university to turning it all around and receiving two golds and a silver medal at the 2016 Paralympic Games is nothing short of incredible. His times on the track make him New Zealand’s second fastest 400m sprinter ever – legs or not! 

The gold medallist blade-running Paralympian put aside his successful athletic career to follow his passion for technology and innovation.

Liam has been awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Athletics, Disabled Sportsperson of the Year at the 54th Halberg Awards, and winner of the Sovereign Insurance ‘Make a Difference’ start up competition. 

Well received among all audiences, Liam’s story will surprise and delight - an authentic and vulnerable delivery covering everything from overcoming adversity to mental health.

CPD hours

Your attendance at the conference will earn you 12 structured CPD hours. Names will be submitted to Financial Advice NZ to have the certificate sent directly to your email address.

Non attendance

Attendance to the Consilium Partner Firm Conference is by invitation only. If you are unable to attend either the conference or the dinner, please let your Client Relationship Manager know in advance. You will otherwise be catered for and there may be a charge for non-attendance.

Parking

Te Pae Christchurch does not have an onsite parking facility.

The closest car park to Te Pae is the Wilsons car park on the corner of Armagh and Colombo Street (opposite Victoria Square).

Multiple off-street parking sites are available and operated by either the Christchurch City Council or private operators (e.g. Wilsons). Electric vehicle charging bays are available at the Lichfield Street Carpark, located at 33 Lichfield Street, Christchurch Central.
