David Boyle

Retirement Commissioner
 

David Boyle was appointed as Retirement Commissioner by the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and began his three-year term on 18 May 2026.

David brings extensive experience across retirement savings, financial wellbeing and public policy, spanning both the public and private sectors. Throughout his career, he has focused on helping New Zealanders build financial security for retirement.

Before his appointment, David was General Manager of KiwiSaver at Fisher Funds. Earlier in his career, he was involved in supporting the development of KiwiSaver at ING, contributing to the growth of one of New Zealand’s most important retirement savings initiatives.

David has previously worked at Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission, where he contributed to initiatives to improve financial wellbeing, supported monitoring of the retirement villages sector, and led the early development of the Sorted in Schools financial education programme.

David Haintz is a financial advice leader and value creation specialist, with over 35 years’ experience spanning advice, leadership, M&A, private capital, and global consulting. He is a founding director of Shadforth Financial Group, one of Australia’s leading non-aligned advice businesses, which grew to more than 100 advisers and $13 billion in client funds before being acquired in 2014 for $670 million.

Since 2015, David has advised leading advice firms globally through Global Adviser Alpha, working across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. His work focuses on accelerating growth, improving profitability, and increasing enterprise value through clear client value propositions and disciplined execution. As a former director of the Financial Planning Association of Australia, he was instrumental in advancing professionalism, and has served on its Disciplinary and Professionalism Committees.

He is the author of 'The Life-First Advisor', and a regular international speaker on the evolution of financial advice, from product-centric models to client-centric, behaviour-driven advice. In recognition of his contribution to financial planning, business, and the community, David was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2022.

Professor Ben Marshall

Independent Academic Consultant

Professor Marshall holds the MSA Charitable Trust Chair in Finance at Massey University and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Newcastle.

He focuses on research that is relevant to industry practice. His research interests include factors influencing stock returns, the cost of capital, quantitative approaches to portfolio management, and the impact of ESG on financial markets. 

His research has been published in leading international journals, and he is a regular speaker at international conferences. His work has been discussed in The Economist, Financial Times, and Barrons, and has won numerous prizes, including the INFINZ Research Report of the Year three years in a row. Professor Marshall is currently ranked in the top 1% of authors based on downloads of his working papers.

He consults to public and private companies, serves on the investment committees of a national charity and foundation and speaks at industry events.

Andrew Bascand

Andrew is a founder, Co-CEO and CIO of Harbour. He holds responsibility for Harbour Australasian equity growth portfolios and works closely with the investment teams on market strategy. As Co-CEO, Andrew also focuses on the overarching management of the business, helping the Harbour team work towards a core vision of being the most trusted investment manager.

Prior to founding Harbour Asset Management, Andrew spent 10 years with AllianceBernstein New Zealand as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager responsible for portfolio construction of all Australasian equity mandates. In that role Andrew and his team were consistently recognised by the industry for excellence in funds management.

Andrew has over 40 years’ investment management experience including roles with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, the Bank of England, AMP and with Merrill Lynch Global Asset Management (UK) as Managing Director of Global Equity Products. With Merrill Lynch, Andrew managed global equity accounts for pension funds in Japan, Sweden, Spain, Chile, England, the US, Germany and South Africa.

Emmanuel Macrides

Head of Enterprise Group, Australia & Vice President

Emmanuel brings two decades of experience in financial services to his current role as Vice President and Head of Enterprise Group, Australia. Prior to joining Dimensional, Emmanuel was influential in transforming financial advisory firms during his tenure at a leading global money management firm.

Emmanuel is passionate about ensuring people’s lifestyle goals are achieved while implementing quality financial planning strategies. His passion for ensuring the retail consumer receives quality financial planning advice stems from his early experience working within a boutique wealth advice firm as an associate advisor.

In his role at Dimensional, Emmanuel helps professionals conceptualise investment ideas and bring them to life for their clients. Delivering an enlightening investment experience is only one skill; he also provides the sort of thought leadership that helps his clients take their business to the next level and beyond.

Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Financial Planning, from RMIT University.

Nathan Krieger

As Head of Dimensional’s Global Client Group, Australia, Nathan serves in a leadership role on several of the firm’s key strategic committees. He is responsible for the strategy and oversight of Dimensional’s client business in Australia and New Zealand, leading a team of professionals committed to delivering an outstanding experience to advisers, intermediaries, and institutional investors.

Since joining Dimensional in 2004 as a Regional Director, Nathan has forged strong and productive relationships with financial professionals across Australia and New Zealand, helping them develop and deliver exceptional investment solutions built on the foundation of financial science.

Prior to joining Dimensional, Nathan held sales and leadership roles at BT Financial Group, MLC Investments, and Commonwealth Securities. Nathan holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA). He graduated from Macquarie University, Sydney, with a Bachelor of Commerce.

Dietary requests

Parking

The venue does not have an onsite parking facility. The closest car park to Te Pae is the Wilsons car park on the corner of Armagh and Colombo Street (opposite Victoria Square).

Multiple off-street parking sites are available and operated by either the Christchurch City Council or private operators (e.g. Wilsons). Electric vehicle charging bays are available at the Lichfield Street Carpark, located at 33 Lichfield Street, Christchurch Central.

Non attendance

Attendance to the Consilium Partner Firm Conference and Dinner is by invitation only. If you are unable to attend either the conference or the dinner, please let your Client Relationship Manager know in advance. You will otherwise be catered for and there may be a charge for non-attendance.
