Prof Ben Marshall

Independent Academic Consultant


Professor Ben Marshall works with the Consilium Investment Committee (CIC) as an Independent Academic Consultant, with a particular focus on governance, analytical support and policy review. He serves on the editorial board of a number of journals and has consulted to public and private companies in a range of different areas. He holds the MSA Charitable Trust Chair in Finance at Massey University.

Professor Marshall has undertaken research in areas such as the impact of climate on financial markets, factors that influence stock returns, quantitative approaches to portfolio management, transaction cost and illiquidity measurement, and exchange traded funds.

His research has been published in leading international journals and he is a regular speaker at international finance conferences. Professor Marshall is currently ranked in the top 1% of authors based on downloads of his working papers.

 

Warwick Schneller

Senior Researcher & Vice President
Dimensional Fund Advisors

Warwick Schneller is a Senior Research and Vice President at Dimensional. Warwick conducts empirical research on a broad range of investment topics to help support clients.

Warwick holds a Ph.D. in finance from the University of New South Wales, Australia. In addition, he holds a master's in finance from Bond University and a bachelor’s in agricultural economics (Hons.) from the University of Sydney. Warwick is also a CFA® charterholder.

Adrian Durham

Group Chief Executive Officer
FNZ Group

Adrian is the founder and Group CEO of FNZ Group and has overseen the development of the company since it started in 2003. He is currently based in the company’s Munich office.

Prior to founding FNZ, he worked as an equity analyst for what at the time was Credit Suisse NZ now First NZ Capital.

Adrian has a BSc (Hons 1st Class) in physics and mathematics, and a BMus in performance piano, both from Victoria University Wellington.

Andrew Bascand

Managing Director & Portfolio Manager
Harbour Asset Management

Andrew is a founder and Managing Director at Harbour. He and holds responsibility for our Australasian Equity growth portfolios, alongside the overarching management of Harbour as a business.

Prior to joining Harbour Asset Management, Andrew spent 10 years with AllianceBernstein New Zealand as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager responsible for portfolio construction of all Australasian mandates. In that role Andrew and his team were consistently recognised by the industry for excellence in funds management. Andrew has more than 37 years’ investment management experience including roles with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Bank of England, AMP and with Merrill Lynch Global Asset Management (UK) as Managing Director of Global Equity Products. With Merrill Lynch, Andrew managed global equity accounts for pension funds in Japan, Sweden, Spain, Chile, England, the US, Germany and South Africa.

Richard Klipin

Chief Executive Officer
Financial Services Council of New Zealand (FSC)

Richard is the CEO of Financial Services Council of New Zealand (FSC) since 2016 and has led change and growth for peak industry associations, as well as in executive roles with major banks and insurance companies. He is a skilled community builder across the sector, engaging with diverse industry stakeholders to contribute to shaping government policy and regulatory outcomes. He is a key spokesperson for the industry with government, media and consumers.

He was appointed to the Board of Trustees Executors Limited (TEL) in May 2020 and is also Chair of their Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. Prior to this Richard was Chief Distribution Officer of Sovereign Assurance, with a brief to lead Sovereign’s distribution businesses through the regulatory changes sweeping the sector.

Richard holds an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education from Macquarie University; and completed the Denison Miller Senior Executive Leadership Program and ‘Rethinking Leadership’ program with the Hunger Project in India.

David Letele

Motivational speaker &
Founder of Buttabean Motivation

Former professional boxer, Dave (AKA Brown Buttabean) is a South Auckland community leader who uses his platform to advocate for families in need. Having grown up with a father who was the president of the Mongrel Mob and in and out of prison throughout his childhood, Dave understands what it means to struggle. It took Dave a near-death experience to pull him out of a downward spiral. From there, he embarked on a journey that led to him owning several businesses, playing rugby league all over the world, becoming a professional boxer, losing almost 100 kg in body weight, and starting over.

Dave is an inspiration to thousands of Kiwis, achieving his transformation purely through hard work and dedication. Starting his platform via his private Facebook group where over 10,000 people have achieved life-changing levels of weight loss, Dave went on to found his company Buttabean Motivation (BBM), where he and his team are currently working with public health and social service providers across Auckland to deliver his highly effective BBM programs to improve the health outcomes for obese people. In 2022, Dave was awarded with the Kiwibank New Zealand Local Hero of the year Award for his incredible work across Aotearoa.

Your attendance at the conference will earn you 10.5 structured CPD hours. Names will be submitted to Financial Advice NZ to have the certificate sent directly to your email address.

Non attendance

Attendance to the Consilium Partner Firm Conference is by invitation only. If you are unable to attend either the conference or the dinner, please let us know in advance. You will otherwise be catered for and there may be a charge for non-attendance.
